Allah Almighty has
established a system of reproduction to sustain life and create pairs of all
living creatures. The characteristics of each organism depend on the genetic
material it contains, just as color and race are traits that are passed on from
one parent to another, and sometimes certain genetic defects are passed on from
one parent to another. Chromosomes : Chromosomes are inherited material that is passed from
both parents to children. The gene on the chromosome is the special code system
of this hereditary system. Half of each child's genetic material is passed on
from the mother and half from the father. This genetic material could be a
deterrent to many diseases in the future or a prelude to potential prey.
Thalassemia: Thalassemia is a blood disease that depends on the genetic material that is
transmitted. Thalassemia is an inherited disease in which red blood cells
become dysfunctional and break down immediately after formation. As a result,
the human body becomes severely anemic. Blood cell breakdown causes the material
to accumulate in the body and has severe adverse effects on the
organs in which the breakdown occurs.
Defective Genetic Material: Because the disease is based on defective
genetic material, the new blood that is formed in the body is as defective as
before. Anemia : Anemia usually worsens in the first year of life and requires a blood
transfusion. About 5,000 new cases of thalassemia are diagnosed in Pakistan
every year. About 5 to 8% of the population in Pakistan has the thalassemia
gene and an estimated 16,800 patients died of thalassemia in Pakistan in 2015. Thalassemia Gene: If the thalassemia gene is passed from both parents to the child, the child
will get thalassemia, and if the thalassemia gene is passed from one parent to
the other, the disease will be passed on to the next generation. Lives a normal
life Since the thalassemia gene is present in about 5 to 8% of the population
in Pakistan, there is a high chance that two people will get married who have
the thalassemia gene hidden in both. Importance of Thalassemia Test before Marriage :The result is that if the thalassemia
gene is passed from both parents to the child, the child will have thalassemia
and the hereditary disease will stay with the child for the rest of his life if
he is tested for thalassemia before marriage. |
Thalassemia Test should be done before marriage |
This will determine if the
children of these parents are more likely to develop thalassemia in the future.
If the thalassemia gene is present, and there is a marriage, then
when the mother is expectant, the test can initially find out if the baby in
the mother's womb has thalassemia. There is a fatwa of scholars
in Pakistan, that abortion can be terminated in the first few
days based on such scientific knowledge. However, this issue can be
discussed individually with scholars. Almost every couple in Pakistan is
diagnosed with thalassemia before marriage. The test should be done. The Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa Assembly had passed a bill in the previous government that
thalassemia should be tested before every marriage. At least in families where
a child is born with thalassemia, a premarital thalassemia test is very
important. Although all diseases are caused by the decision of Allah Almighty,
man has been taught knowledge by Allah for the service and welfare of humanity,
and not benefiting from the existing knowledge is also ungrateful for
blessings. May, Allah, grant us all health and well-being. Amen❤✌☺
